While no-nonsense Philadelphia cop Buster McHenry (Kiefer Sutherland) is going undercover to investigate a gang headed by the ruthless Marino (Rob Knepper), he’s forced to take part in a robbery that ends with the theft of a sacred Sioux artifact and the death of several onlookers. After the incident, Hank Storm (Lou Diamond Phillips), whose brother was killed during the robbery, teams up with Buster to recover the artifact and avenge his brother’s death.
Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips star in this action movie that I had actually never heard of until this release from Mill Creek. It does, however, come with some thrills, chills, and a little drama. That being said, given the time this one came out and what they were going for with it, I don’t think anyone watching ever has a question as to how it’ll all end up once all is said and done in it. That doesn’t make it a bad movie. And as far as stuff like this goes I’d say it’s a pretty solid movie that is held together by the acting of Sutherland and Phillips. They make for a good combo, which tends to make for some nice entertainment on the screen. The rest of this one is pretty much an “action movie from the ’80s 101”.
The disc from Mill Creek doesn’t give you anything extras of note to hold on to, but it doesn’t look too bad either. These releases can at times be a bit more hit and miss than one might like and while the transfer here does manage to look a bit questionable from time to time, it still looks better than a hunk of stuff of this nature we’ve seen released by them lately. A big selling point for stuff like this tends to be the retro covers and that is here for those of you who are still riding that trail. Mill Creek seems still very much on board and has no signs of stopping.
