When Officer Kate Sullivan storms a hostage situation, the whole incident is captured on tape by an unscrupulous media crew who edit the footage to show Kate killing a helpless victim. Now in a coma, Kate’s only hope is Detective Sean McKinney, who desperately tries to clear her name. But unbeknownst to him, Maniac Cop Matt Cordell takes it upon himself to exact revenge upon those responsible for smearing her name. Returning stars Robert Davi (PROFILER) and Robert Z Dar (BEASTMASTER 2) are joined by Paul Gleason (DIE HARD), Jackie Earle Haley (WATCHMEN), Julius Harris (SUPER FLY), Doug Savant (MELROSE PLACE), and Robert Forster (JACKIE BROWN) in this thrilling third entry from MANIAC COP creator Larry Cohen (GOD TOLD ME TO). Featuring a 4K High Definition transfer from the original uncensored negative, this definitive presentation of MANIAC COP 3: BADGE OF SILENCE comes packed with exclusive Extras!

Things do some to take a bit of an odd turn this time around in Maniac Cop 3. The movie still has that slasher elements and it certainly still has our maniac cop running around doing what he does best. Heck, we even have Robert Davi back being his cool self. The thing is, this time around we have added in a somewhat supernatural twist to things and it comes across at times (not always) as a film that might be trying to take a page out of the book of a Nightmare on Elm Street. I don’t think Maniac Cop flurishes when it is trying to be anything other than just Maniac Cop. We just need action or we need slashing. We don’t really need anything else.

I do appreciate the more ghetto and grimey setting and feel to Manic Cop 3. For better or for worse the movie does stand apart from the other two before it. Does it stand out a little too much? Well, that is a bit of a complicated question, but it does have its moments. Also if you were a fan of the Maniac Cop 2 transfer you should be right at home here. The film might not look as good as Maniac Cop 2, but it does look good and I think the colors and details are there for the MOST part with a few noticable expections here and there. Maniac Cop 3 is the oddball in the Maniac Cop series. It might not be as good as the first two, but it is good enough..Just good enough.
