When a man (Christopher Lloyd) claiming to be Fester, the missing brother of Gomez Addams (Raul Julia), arrives at the Addams’ home, the family is thrilled. However, Morticia (Anjelica Huston) begins to suspect the man is a fraud, since he cannot recall details of Fester’s life. With the help of lawyer Tully Alford (Dan Hedaya), Fester manages to get the Addams clan evicted from their home. Gomez realizes the two men are conspiring to swindle the Addams fortune and that he must challenge Fester.
I didn’t think we could look any better than the last Addams Family Blu-ray release from Paramount but they have topped it here with this new 4K release! The Addams Family is probably one of the prototypes for 90’s comedy movies but it also comes with a horror twist. Here we have a family of not so bad creeps that deal with some conflict in a very hilarious way before you get the ending that you are expecting from the start. We’ve seen it before, we all love it, but this time it’s on 4K with the Mamushka cut giving us more dancing and such for our money. Regardless of the cut, you have The Addam’s Family is a movie that you can turn off your brain when you watch it and have a good time with it no matter if you are alone or with family. It just so happens that here you can see it looking the best it has ever been.
The cast is also a big part of what makes this movie work and seeing such stars as Christopher Lloyd, Raul Julia, and a young Christina Ricci is a treat from start to finish. Do you ever really feel that anyone is in any real danger plot-wise? Nope! But that’s not the point. It’s a fun movie with a fun plot and it is also loaded with what made the 90s what it was (for better or for worse). This release also comes with the theatrical version if you aren’t keen on the extended version. And it also packs a few other new extras that I will list below.
- EXTENDED CUT OF THE FILM with an extended version of the dance number
- THEATRICAL VERSION OF THE FILM
- NEW Introduction to “More Mamushka!” version by director Barry Sonnenfeld
- NEW Filmmaker Focus: Barry Sonnenfeld on The Addams Family
- Archival Featurette
